 The Sands-England
Dorset England
Vegetarian
The Sands forms part of a recently restored Edwardian seaside home; situated opposite a short footpath straight onto a safe sandy sweep of beach. There is a sunny patio and garden for relaxing before wandering down the footpath for your next dip in the sea!
Situated in the north beach area of Swanage, we are backed by rolling Purbeck hills and face towards the sea. You can stand by our gate and see the Isle of Wight (although according to local myth, that means it's going to rain) to your left and Peveril Point (where King Alfred is said to have defeated the Vikings) to your right!
Burlington Road is a quiet cul-de-sac around 15 minutes walk from the centre of Swanage. A public footpath opposite our front entrance winds down through a chine dotted with brightly painted beach huts to a safe sweep of golden sandy beach.
In the Grand Hotel across the road is a health club with a superb gym, sauna steam bath and pool available for very reasonable daily or weekly rates.
To the left are the white cliffs of Ballard Down and to the right is a beach walk along the front into Swanage.
The Dorset Coastal path passes along our road on its way to Studland.
Around the corner at Durlston a family of Dolphins play in the sea off cliffs where Puffins and Peregrine Falcons can be spotted!
Chalk stacks to rugged old Stone quarries bitten out of the cliffs… Dinosaur footprints, turquoise sea and yellow sands; Ancient Barrows and Stone Circles, sailing diving and wind surfing - Purbeck has a rich variety of temptations on offer.
And take the boat from the Victorian pier, (or the ferry from Studland) and in half an hour or so step off into the heart of cosmopolitan Bournemouth with all the amenities of a large town.
